Controlled reproduction of common carp begun in the 1950´s by practical application of technologies for artificial reproduction (Woynarovich, 1962; Rothbard, 1981; Woynarovich and Horvath, 1981). Results of both the basic and applied research have been reviewed for carp sperm (Billard et al., 1986; 1995), eggs and fertilization (Linhart et al., 1995) endocrine control of gametogenesis and induction of spawning (Yaron et al., 1995) and artificial insemination (Billard et al., 1988, 1990, 1995) almost 7 years ago and since that time ,several new approaches to artificial reproduction were developed and published. The aim of this review is to summarize data on the artificial reproduction of common carp together with unpublished data of the authors, focusedto detail problem of storage of sperm, along with the procedure of artificial insemination of eggs. The broodstock was cultivated and prepared for reproduction according to Billard et al. (1988, 1995). Sperm was collected individually wi
