30 water bug species of the infraordo Nepomorpha and 17 species of the infraordo Gerromorpha were noted in all the types of water bodies of Novohradské Mountains in the period 1999 - 2001. Check list of these species is presented. Number of the species represents 64% of species of the infraordo Nepomorpha and 85% of species of the infraordo Gerromorpha occuring in the Czech Republic. The Novohradské Mountains are the area with the occurrence of interesting faunistic elements (palearctic, eurosibirian, mediterranean, subboreal, glacial relicts, etc.). The Novohradské Mountains are a valuable water bug biocentre or a refuge respectively.
