The role of saprophagous macro-fauna on soil formation in reclaimed and non-reclaimed post-mining sites in central Europe
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The role of soil macro-fauna on the micro-structure of top soil layer, organic matter accumulation, composition of meso- and micro-fauna and the microbial properties was studied at two post-mining sites, about 20 year old, located near Sokolov (Czech Republic). Both sites were located close each other on the same alkaline clay substrate. The reclaimed site was covered by alder (Alnus glutinosa, Alnus incana) plantation and the non-reclaimed site by willow (Salix caprea) shrubs. At the non-reclaimed sitemacro-fauna abundance was low , but the densities of testacea amoebae and oribatid mites were high, similar to those in natural forest habitat. Microbial biomass and microbial respiration were similar to reclaimed site. Thin soil sections indicated formation of thick fermentation layer on soil surface, mainly by fragments of leaf litter and excreta of Diplopoda.
