The Genus Arsenophonus
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Members of the Arsenophonus genus have been observed to be common and likely to have a variety of interactions with their hosts. The type species A. nasoniae is a reproductive parasite, other members of the genus are likely secondary symbionts that couldbe conditionally beneficial, or primary symbionts, or insect-vectored phytopathogens.Arsenophonus provides a more tractable model for functional genetic research than most symbionts. It is culturable and clonable. It has been transformed with broad hostrange plasmids. It is likely that Arsenophonus will be a system in which the standard microbial toolkit can be adapted to produce GFP-marked strains, GFP-tagged proteins, as well as targeted knockouts. These can then be used for examining symbiont properties within hosts, for examining the targeting of proteins, and for direct testing of gene function.
