Modelling of sediment and phosphorus loads in reservoirs in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A modelling system was developed for evaluations of sediment and phosphorus export from catchment to water bodies. Sediment and phosphorus loads from soil erosion were simulated by WATEM/SEDEM model, adapted for this purpose by including retention processes in the river network. The model was calibrated at each site with results of phosphorus source apportionment in the catchment among runoff from forest, agricultural and urban areas and wastewater discharges. The evaluation of phosphorus sources in thecatchments was done for 27 reservoirs and revealed that erosion was the main source of total phosphorus at most (21) locations. However, the potential of this particulate phosphorus originating from erosion to induce eutrophication in the receiving reservoirs was of less importance in comparison with dissolved phosphorus loads from wastewaters and from leaching of agricultural soils.
