Altogether 116 oribatid mite species belonging to 69 genera and 33 families were identified in the material of 6324 oribatid specimens. Records of two species Archiphthiracarus crinitosimilis (Willmann, 1939) and Chamobates cuspidatiformis (Trägärdh, 1904) are new for the fauna of the Czech Republic. In total records of nine species are new for the fauna of Moravia and records of 16 species are new for Hrubý Jeseník Mts. Six oribatid communities living within growth of mosses and lichens in the beech forest, decaying wood, beech litter, spruce litter, natural springs and mosses on rocks and boulders in the avalanche path in the Malá Kotlina were analysed using PCA ordination analysis. Faunisticaly important oribatid species were characterised. The composition of oribatid fauna of Malá and Velká Kotlina was compared.
