Fusion experiment of S. bulbocastanum 8003 (2n = 2x = 24, cytoplasmic type W?; blb 8003) and dihaploid S. tuberosum 243 (2n = 2x =24, cytoplasmic type T??; tbr dh 243) led to obtaining 45 somatic hybrids. 80 % of these somatic hybrids were acclimatised;the morphology and resistance to Phytophthora infestans were described. The most of somatic hybrid exhibited the morphological abnormalities and dwarfishness. Five hybrids had intermediate morphology and two ones were tbr like. The initiation of flowering was recorded at eight somatic hybrids but only three flowered. The flowers produced small amount of pollen and male fertility was less than 10 %. The female fertility was tested by sexual hybridization. 24 flowers were pollinated from three combinations and one seedless berry was formed. The vegetative period of vital somatic hybrids was mostly late as of the wild parent. The differences in the set of tubers and yield were significant between somatic hybrids and their parents.
