The aim of the study is to assess the trends of development of the operating environment and to provide an alternative view for the debate on the development of the capabilities of the armed forces. The study evaluates the conditions that affect the environment of possible conflicts. The aim is also to provide the knowledge for a wider professional public to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the conditions of use of the armed forces and other organisations involved in future conflicts. The study provides a framework for thinking with the ambition to stimulate the interest of readers in understanding the trends of development and their impact. The purpose is to encourage a wider expert discussion on the future, and thus, to set conditions for a focused and conceptual development of the capabilities of the armed forces.
