The document contains the outcomes of research carried out by six national institutions cooperating within the NESSI (Network of European Security Studies Institutions). The research is based on the analysis of nine key research questions, which were directly related to the results stemming from the implementation of the EU Strategic Compass and the NATO 2022 Strategic Concept. The set of questions was modified appropriately in order to allow both NATO/EU and non-NATO/EU countries to take part in achieving the research objectives. The specificities of security and defence policies perceived by the participating nations are described in the various chapters and differ in terms of the nature of the main threats, threat assessments and preferred strategic partners.
