The process of preparing military personnel consists of a comprehensive system of education, training and personal development and is thoroughly tied to military career management. This system is based on a complex of professional soldiers’ lifelong education where distance learning is used more extensively. Requirements of the Czech Armed Forces for specific officers’ career education overpass the capacity of the military educational facilities. University of Defense in Brno has proceeded to the development and realization of the 28 credits long senior officers’ distance learning study program supported by Moodle Course Management System. The article is describing the study program within the system of military career education. It is presenting the approach to the course program development and the lessons learned from running the program.
