By the end of 2012 the Czech Ministry of Defence plans to issue the new document ?Defence Strategy for the Czech Republic,? thereby fulfilling task of the Policy Statement from the Government of the Czech Republic. In August 2010 the Czech government declared that after the approval of the new NATO Strategic Concept at the summit in Lisbon and having regard to the overall development of the international situation, to update the ?Security Strategy for the Czech Republic? and to prepare the ?White Book on Defence? which will be the basis for preparing the new ?Defence Strategy for the Czech Republic.? The Czech government considers active involvement in the North Atlantic Alliance system of collective defence as a fundamental starting point for assuringdefence against present and future security threats.
