Classification of Terrorism Risk by Multidimensional Statistical Methods
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The analysis of terrorism impact on the development of countries represents a significant area of theoretical and empirical research of the state's defense economy. The article presents the performance of a classification tree to classify 140 countries on the basis of the relation between the institutional environment in the analyzed countries and terrorism risk. To assess the institutional characteristics of the selected countries, the authors have used data from the Governance Matters characterizing the institutional environment by means of 6 variables. To assess the level of terrorism risk in the countries subject to the analysis in 2012, the authors have used the Terrorism Risk Index data and Global Peace Index data. By comparing the original classification made on the basis of terrorism risk measured by means of the Terrorism Risk Index with the results of an alternative classification created by means of data characterizing the institutional environment and by the classification creation by Global Peace Index, deviations of the classifications will be calculated, analyzed and described with respect to terrorist attacks actually carried out in 2012.
