Growing number of anthropogenic and natural disasters and their impact puts pressure on increasing level of prevention and crisis preparedness both in the public and private sectors. This article deals with the preparation and implementation of the exercise of crisis management authorities in South Bohemia region in the Czech Republic. Exercises of the authorities of the crisis management form part of the crisis preparedness. Large-scale disruption of gas supplies due to a simulated accident at high pressure pipeline in natural gas distribution system was selected as a crisis situation. During the exercise there was tested simulator that allowed to record communication, development of the situation and fulfilment of tasks. Based on the results of the exercise, evaluation has been carried out.
