The provision of potable water is a critical element of military operations, significantly impacting the health, operational readiness, and effectiveness of armed forces. This study evaluates the current state of potable water supply within the Czech Armed Forces (CAF) using the DOTMLPFI (doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership, personnel, facilities, interoperability) methodology, identifying key gaps in evaluated areas. The findings reveal outdated water treatment equipment, insufficient capacity for subsurface water extraction, and overlapping responsibilities between engineering and logistics units. Recommendations include modernizing water treatment facilities, adopting reverse osmosis technology, and assigning exclusive responsibility for water treatment to engineering units. Additionally, the need for clear task definition, risk analysis implementation, and enhanced interoperability through standardized practices and international collaboration is emphasized. By addressing these challenges, the CAF can establish a sustainable and effective potable water supply system aligned with NATO standards, ensuring readiness for future operations in both national and international contexts.
