The demands on technical systems reliability are growing continually with their increasing complexity level. Thus in the last years great effort was put forth in development of methods that enable higher operational reliability and safety. The keystone of these devices is the ability of early Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI). This paper describes the most known FDI methods and tries to compare them to each other.
