The article deals with identifying dependencies between penetration and shear strength of cohesive soils for diagnostic field in terms of trafficability for military wheeled vehicles. On the basis of measurements made by two instruments in various fieldlocations are created statistical files. The answers of the null hypothesis about the relationship of these variables are being researched by using methods of mathematical statistics and the correlation. Authors find out that there is a correlation between the two variables, it is necessary to condition it by the type of terrain.
