MAPPING OF THE SOIL PASSABILITY FOR THE MOVEMENT OF VEHICLES
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The movement of vehicles in the field is one of the basic prerequisites for performing the tasks of army and rescue units. Soils are one of the main elements of the landscape affecting the movement off the road. An important requirement is to determine the influence of soils on vehicle movements and subsequent analysis of the possibility of moving in open terrain. Relatively detailed soil maps are available from the territory of the Czech Republic. These maps contain information about soil granularity, soil types and pedogenic substrate. However, the mere knowledge of this information is not sufficient to express the impact of soil on the movement of vehicles. The Department of Military Geography and Meteorology therefore has been performing mapping of soil bearing capacity in the major categories of soils for several years. Standard soil trafficability test set is used for this mapping. In addition to measuring the bearing capacity of soils, the soil samples (probes) are collected at all locations. Soil samples are used to check the correctness of maps. Measured values of soil bearing capacity, technical parameters of vehicles, meteorological information and relief of the terrain are used as the main source of data for processing maps of soil passability.
