The concept of direct product plays an important role in many parts of algebra. It is easy to define homogeneous and heterogeneous product for automata. In connection with the study of hyperstructures the concept of multiautomaton was introduced and an attempt was made to carry over these products to multiautomata. While no problem occurs as to the heterogeneous product the direct way fails in case of the homogeneous product. To overcome this restriction the concept of generalized multiautomaton will be introducedand its main properties studied. Among other results it will be shown how to define both types of products for generalized multiautomata and their relation to products of multiautomata will be explained.
