THE INFLUENCE OF SPATIAL DATABASE QUALITY ON MODELLING OF VEHICLE MOVEMENT IN TERRAIN
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Command and control of the armed forces cannot work without quality and reliable geographic sources. These sources, among others, allow studying natural conditions in the area of operation, analysing them in terms of the effects of the environment on planned or executed activities, and solving the variants. The main military activities take place in the terrain and they always include the movement of units in a particular space. Geographic information allows modelling the influence of the environment and its particular components on movement of military vehicles taking into account their technical and performance parameters. In modelling, it is necessary to consider the quality of source data as well as the quality of physical, mathematical and geoinformation models. Models of behaviour of weapons and weapon systems interacting with the natural environment have three levels. The first level represents the physical model describing behaviour of a particular weapon, vehicle, aircraft and so on in specific geographic and meteorological conditions. The model is based on tactical and technical data and operational characteristics of the weapons and vehicles. The highest level of physical models is represented by the model of a complex influence of the natural environment on a particular vehicle or a weapon system. To use the physical models in computations, it is necessary to mathematize them. Mathematical model, the second level of modelling, respect employed geographic and meteorological data and their accuracy and reliability characteristics, including uncertainty of this data given by properties of modelled objects and phenomena. Data uncertainty can be dealt for example with applying the general theory of fuzzy sets Mathematized models are being converted into third level - information models - usually using specific software suites such as the ESRI ArcGIS.
