The motivation of nurses to joint the Army of the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The medical support is a really important part of all armies. High quality medical service is a extremely necessary for all military activities. Army of the Czech Republic has a great tradition with medical support. All soldiers in Czech Republic are professionals, and many members of Czech armed forces have experiences with foreign missions. The same situation is in the Military healthcare service. All personnel have to be professional soldiers and we can find these people in all types of military units. We have a nurses (or paramedics) in infantry platoons, in the field hospitals, in the logistic units etc. Nurses have to combine two types of profession; they have to be nurses and soldiers at the same time. The main question of our research is what is their motivation to join the army? The work of nurses in army has many different aspects compared to work in the civilian sector. We did a questionnaire research at nurses in the Czech army, with focus on motivation factors and work satisfaction. 250 nurses in the army were approached for research. This group of respondents was from all units levels of the Army of the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the motivation of respondents was really low, and the questionnaire return was 51%. We found, that the main motivation factors are social and financial aspects of their work. Nurses appreciate financial rewards, as well as the possibility of personal development and career growth. The level of risk is not a major factor affecting the willingness to serve in the military. This research is just introductory work dealing with complex issues of life satisfaction of nurses in the army.
