The international expert workshop “Military Implications of Acute Noise-Induced Changes in Hearing” was organized by the Military Faculty of Medicine of the University of Defence in cooperation with the Military Health Section of the Czech Ministry of Defence and the Military Health Agency in Prague from 7–10 October 2025. The event, conducted under the NATO STO HFM-381 Research Task Group, focused on acute acoustic and blast-induced hearing injuries and their operational consequences for military personnel. Experts from nine NATO nations presented recent research on field noise exposure, complex noise measurement, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of acute auditory trauma, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and pharmacological approaches. The workshop also discussed emerging methods for real-time hearing assessment in field conditions, such as boothless audiometry, tele-otoscopy, and wearable sensors for noise monitoring. The outcome of the workshop contributes to the development of standardized NATO methodologies for documenting noise exposure, assessing hearing function, and improving prevention and treatment of acute acoustic trauma in operational and training environments, thereby enhancing resilience and readiness of allied medical services.
