LET?S 2014 Conference (Bologna 29. 9. - 1. 10. 2014) paper: Two operational programs were activated thanks to European funding, one in research and development (R&D) and one concerning enterprise and innovation (E&I). The R&D program involved the creation of new research infrastructures, and funded the building and implementation of six new national centers of excellence and forty regional R&D centers across various regions in the Czech Republic, for a total of 1.5 million Euro. The E&I program was focused on increasing the innovation potential of Czech industries and create collaboration both internally and externally. Although the development of the innovation system in Czech Republic is far from complete, two successful case studies of Southern Moravia and Moravia-Silesia regions highlight the potential of increasing education in higher technological and vocational training, increasing entrepreneurial awareness as well as economic restructuring of outdated facilities and technologic
