The 'unKnown' (neZnámí) Project. Identification of People on Portrait Photographs from the Photo Archive of the Jewish Museum in Prague.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Work on the unKnown project began in 2005?2006, originally as a Bachelor?s thesis entitled Portrétní fotografie ve fondu fotoarchivu ŽMP [Portrait Photographs in the holdings of the Photo Archive of the Jewish Museum in Prague]. One of the aims was to draw attention to the possibility of identifying as yet unknown or insufficiently identified persons who appear on several hundred portrait photographs in the Photo Archive of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Since then, the project has led to the identification of more than 100 people and to an uncovering of their fate, but also to a confirmation of several hypotheses as to what happened to Jews from mixed marriages. The project also has an important social aspect ? it has managed to bring together several families and to follow up with stories from the Second WorldWar period. This article summarizes the result of work on the unKnown project from its launch in 2005?2006 through to the present.
