For every firm it is a must nowadays to use modern information technologies (ICT) for its development and existence. Firms have to work with sufficiently developed information basis for reaching competitiveness. New information technologies, specializeddatabases and the Internet enable to get necessary information, analyze it and create qualified strategies. Nowadays the firm could not reach the world-wide competitiveness without purposeful ICT. The contribution deals with theoretical problems of informatics section inclusion into an organizational structure of a firm that will be followed by the examination of a chosen sample of firms in the Czech Republic. The examination will be focused on the analysis of the state of informatics section inclusioninto an organizational structure of a firm and using information and communication technologies and information for strategic decisions.
