Mineralization of wrapping materials.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The huge contatnination of environment is one of undesirable results of human society developrnent. Tons of different wrapping materials are used for packaging of foods and other goods every day. Several of these materials are based on plastics with verylong time needed for their decomposition, sometimes tliey are nearly undecotnpostable. Therefore there is a urgent need to find alternatives of wrapping materials which will be more friendly for environment. In co-operation with the Institute of Chemic al Technology we tested the decotnposition of materials based on used paper or on modified starch covered with very thin layer of special polymer. In these in vitro tests we thoroughly mixed soil with pure polymer, paper or starch wrapping material both pure and treated with polymer and these mixtures were cultivated at 28°C. C:N for added materials was fixed at 25:1 using amanonium dihydrogen phosphate. Mineralization was tested measuring the production of carbon dioxide during cultivati
