Strongyle nematodes are the most important internal parasites of the horse and can be found worldwide. Efforts to control cyathostomes and other equine parasites have been undertaken for many years. Control is based mainly on the use of anthelmintics, and these have become more potent and easier to administer. However, the most effective control is possible only through the integration of different approaches. The need for restraint in the use of anthelmintics, the application of epidemiological principles of worm control and a greater emphasis on pasture management are the principal recommendations. A study was designed, firstly, to discussed the epidemiology, chemotherapy and control of cyathostome infections in the horse.
