Soil aluminium forms and acidification in selected mountainous regions of Bohemia
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Forest decline in North-Bohemian montains havebeen attributed to soil acidification caused by acid deposition and consequent release of toxic Al forms in soil. This study was aimed at thecomparison of soil acidification indices among mountainous regionsof Krušné hory a Jizerské hory in Northern Bohemia and Šumava region in Southern Bohemia. Soil pH, exchangeable acidity, organic carbon content, humus quality, labile and organically bound Al content, potential cation exchange capacity, base saturation and content of major base cations (Ca, Mg, andK) were determined in both forest and grassland soil samples from three areas. It was sown thattheacidification rte generally followed the order Jizerské hory- Šumava -Krušné hory. Principal cause of soil acidification was forest vegetation. Acidification and Al release were intensified by high precipitation and leaching. Differences among the areas caused by anthropogenic soil acidification were not proved.
