Summary of the statement on protection and sustainable land use in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The contemporary use of soil resources, especially of agricultural and forest land, is described, including the share of principal cultures and timber species. Attention is paid to protected and low productivity areas. The reclamation (drainage, irrigation) and fertilization measures (reflected in nutrient content in soils) are characterized. The most serious problem of soil degradation is water erosion. Assessment of soil erosion represents land vulnerability to erosion. Attempts have been made to mapthe consequences of erosion and accumulation at scale 1 : 10,000. Another degradation processes comprise pedocompaction and dehumification. Soil acidity of agricultural soils is evaluated on the basis of the inventory of agrochemical properties. However ,soil acidification and accompanying adverse impacts of airborne pollutants affects primarily forests. Great attention has been paid to the soil pollution, especially of agricultural soils and urban areas. Background values of both trace
