The seasonal changes in the development of Trichostrongylus colubriformis and equine Cyathostominae in vitro
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Third-stage larvae of equine cyathostomes as well as Trichostrongylus colubriformis were cultured in vitro to test the tendency to "arrested development" during the year. The effects of environmental stimuli on pre-infective and infective stages (duringthe cultivation to infective stage and storage of infective larvae) were examined. Culture systems contained the medium NCTC-135, chick embryo extract, horse or fetal calf serum and casein hydrolysate and were incubated in an atmosphere of 10% CO2, 5% O2and 85% N2. Tehe results in in vitro cultures given larvae conditioned during the cultivation to infective stage under natural environmental stimuli were not significantly different from those in in vitro cultures given larvae cultivated under laboratory conditions. However, 16,23-53,8%infective larvae of cyathostominae and 15,44-64,78% T.colubriformis larvae respectively, stored for 4 weeks under autumnal conditions did not develop further and remained coiled until the end of the exper
