Introduction Chamomile (Matricaria recutita L.) belongs to the oldest exploited drugs, which are planted and harvested in the Czech Republic. At present it is grown on about 90 ha of arable lands. The main substance in the floret (of medicinal Chamomile(Matricaria recutita L.) is 1.6-3% of essential oils. The most important substances of the essential oils are chamazulene and bisabololoxid A, along with bisabolol, cis en-in-dicykloether and bisaboloxid B. Next to essential oils (volatile oils) Chamomile contains flavonoids (flavonoid apigenin), which are regarded especially at present. The most important and the oldest variety in the Czech Republic is the variety Bohemia ? licenced in 1952 in the Czech Republic (at that time former Czechoslovakia). The variety of Bohemia is a diploid variety, the content of 0.47% of essentail oils is standard, out of which there are over 36% of bisabololoxid A and 20% of azulen. Other variety of Chamomile which we are testing is the Slovak tetraploid
