Název v původním jazyce
Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead and Zinc Uptake by Pteris cretica L. and Mentha aquatica L.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Environmental pollution is a serious problem which affects all biota of the world. Heavy metals and metalloids are very stable in the environment and therefore it is necessary to find the appropriate cleaning technology. Phytoremediation, i.e. the utilization of green plants in cleaning of contaminated soils, waters and wastes, is one of them. Quite recently new accumulating plants were discovered on soils polluted by arsenic - among them Pteris cretica L., fern from the same family as arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata L., and Mentha aquatica L. In our study both As accumulating plants were tested in the pot experiment on five soils of different level and origin of contamination by As and other toxic elements. Results of experiments showed very good As accumulation capacity by Pteris cretica. Plant leaves accumulated up to 915 mg As ? kg-1 d.m., but the accumulation of other elements was substantially lower, 0.2 mg Cd ? kg-1 d.m. and 1.2 mg Pb ? kg-1 d.m. Mentha aquatica introduc
