Twenty-four species of the family Rhagionidae are currently known from the Czech Republic (Spitzer & Barták 2000a). The last monographic treatise on this group concerning our country can be found in Rozkošný & Spitzer (1965). References to recent faunistic data are summarized by Spitzer & Barták (2000a). There is still no recent treatise on the distribution and degree of endangerment for the Czech Republic. The classification and nomenclature of the list presented below was employed in accordance with Spitzer (1997a). The larvae live in moist soil, rich in detritus, some species prefer decaying wood, growths of mosses or liverworts; they live along sides of waters and they are predacious or (Spania) phytophagous. Several species are associated with natural forest stands, littoral vegetation and other endangered biotopes and/or they are very rare. The list presented below includes total of 4 species considered as endangered (EN), one species being vulnerable (VU).
