A list of the species recorded in Podyjí NP (37 species, i.e. 56.0 % of the Czech fauna) is less extensive than that of Stratiomyidae found in the Pálava Biosphere Reserve (40 species, 60.6 %, ROZKOŠNÝ 1998) but more extensive than that of industrial area of NW Bohemia (31 species, 47 %, ROZKOŠNÝ & BARTÁK 2000). This fact is apparently caused by more diverse landscape in the Biosphere Reserve and much extensive documentary material evaluated, including specimens from museum collections. The difference between Podyjí NP and NW Bohemia is not too significant as regards the number of species but more by their spectrum. No species of Stratiomys and Odontomyia with aquatic larvae were found during recent investigations in the National Park (they were mostlyadded according to the older material found in the collection by T. Gregor, Znojmo).
