Evaluation of active management applied to meadows with Phengaris butterflies occurrence
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In recent decades, changes in mowing methods have caused decreasing populations of endangered Phengaris species. Additionally, the meadows are currently either abandoned or using intensively. Unfortunately, both these managements are not considered to be favourable for grassland butterfly species. In this study, the effect of suitable management application on population sizes of both above mentioned Phengaris species was investigated. The experiment was performed at Děčín, the Czech Republic. Using MARK software, the most suitable models, based on the lowest AICc values, were selected. The results were subsequently compared with the data obtained at the same localities before the management application. For verification of management effect to population size, localities were divided into three groups: (i) application of favourable management, (ii) mowing in the inappropriate term, (iii) without management. Based on the statistical evaluation, we found out the management application the most favoura
