Meloe violaceus Marsham, 1802 is recorded from the top of Sněžka Mt. (Bohemia: Giant Mountains: 1600 m above sea level, square No. 5260 of reference map grid, geographical coordinates: 50.44N / 15.44E): 1 ex. - female, 25.iv. - 7.v. 1988, lgt. A. Funk, det. and coll. V. Vrabec. It is the highest locality in the Czech Republic where the species was recorded. With regard to the limited vagility of adults of Meloidae, we suppose, that the development of this beetle took place locally.
