The increasing utilization of biomass for energy purposes is accompanied by a strong increase in demand. This reflected in rising prices and a competition for land between food-, feed- and energy production. Biomass from wet peatlands (Paludiculture) hasno competitors to agricultural products and can be alternatively used as a renewal resource for energy purposes or material utilization. To manage wet peatlands with less carrying capacity the technology must be adapted to the area. The aim of this article is to show the requirements of harvesting methods for establishing biomass logistics of Paludibiomasses, using the example of a caterpillar-based harvesting system.
