The use of harvester technology in the Czech Republic has been on the rise. With this in mind, we should acknowledge the potential offered by harvesters in the form of automated scaling of timber during its production. Thanks to the international StanForD standard used by harvesters, all data related to primary scaling of timber are recorded in the machine systems. The standard focuses on recording and transfering of data from and to harvester computers. It is intended both for production records and for optimizing timber grading, performing control measurements, calibration etc. Yet, until now, proper practical application of this standard in the Czech Republic has been hindered by the non-existence of a universal manual, which would outline the method of transparent setting and consequent application of the data obtained.
