Landscape development in the Czech - former GDR border region after the Second World War ? a literature review
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper studies the development of landscape changes in the Czech ? former border region after the Second World War. An analysis is made of the driving forces influencing the evolution of the landscape, and a comparison is made of the parallel landscape development in the border regions of two countries with a similar political and economic background. The paper is based on the hypothesis that landscape changes in border regions depend on the overall geopolitical situation and on the political relations between the countries. The time period of interest includes major events and processes that reflected in landscape changes. It begins after the Second World War, when the German population was displaced from Czechoslovakia, passes through the periodof the collectivisation of agriculture, the acculturation of the countryside, and the planning and policy of the command economy, and continues until the changes in land use and land ownership brought about by the restoration of democracy
