The paper discusses the development of experiemnts carried out to evaluate treatment performance of constructed wetlands during wastewater treatment. While twenty years ago most experiments were carried out in the field, nowadays most experiments are carried out in the laboratory with artificial wastewater. Unfortunately, the results of laboratory experiments are never tested in the field confitions.
