The 11th volume of the West Derby eland studbook shows the current demographic and genetic characteristics of the semi-captive population of Bandia and Fathala Reserves in Senegal. A total of 193 Derby Elands were born from 2000 to 2018 in the reserves from 6 founders in fenced areas, initially in the Bandia Reserve and later in the Fathala Reserve. In June 2018, the Derby elands form a population of 115 live individuals bred in semi-captivity and managed in 6 herds in 2 natural reserves in Senegal.
