Louis-François Cartier was well aware of the power that beauty and perfection conceal within themselves, and from the founding of his workshop in 1847 onwards he consistently pursued his dream to create both. He eventually passed on this aim to future generations. A great many multifarious stories are linked with the Cartier name ? the stories of those who created an oeuvre of incalculable value, but mainly stories of the great figures that surrounded themselves with this oeuvre.
