The ion-selective membranes belong to the class of modern functional materials which have found during the last decades a broad spectrum of practical applications, mainly in the field of electrochemical sensors and electrochemical separation processes. Recently this type of materials is considered as a so called solid polymer electrolyte. The advantage of application of ion selective membrane consists mainly in fact, that usage of liquid electrolyte is avoided. It results in minimizing danger of cell material corrosion and allows more compact unit construction and easy handling. Recently the low temperature fuel cells based on the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEMFC) becomes in the center of attention of many research groups. One of the serious problems ofthe present state of the art is the ion selective membrane used. It is based typically on the perfluorinated sulphonated material known under commercial name Nafion.
