Poster: A study of local potential and current density distribution along a bipolar electrode.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The potential and local current density distribution along and inside the bipolar electrode body were measured as a function of position, current load and free electrolyte cross-section area. The bipolar electrode was formed by a 780 mm long Pt rod placed in the plexi-glas tube. The two Pt terminal electrodes were located at the ends of the tube. As an electrolyte 0.5 M HCl solution was used. It was flowing through the cell from the middle to both of its ends without recirculation in order to avoid presence of dissolved products in the solution. The most active parts of bipolar electrode were found at theirs ends closest to the terminal electrodes. In the range of current load 5 to 60 mA cm-2 a significant dependence of the parasitic current density onthe current load has been observed. At 60 mA cm-2 less than 10 % of current load flowed trough the electrolyte. In the framework of this study a 2D mathematical model of a secondary local potential distribution of the experimental cell w
