Paints with photocatalytical properties - preparation and testing
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper deals with photocatalytic properties of water based paints with acrylic binders. These paints are prepared with aim to reach so called self cleaning or easy cleaning ability. Self cleaning ability of coating containing titanium dioxide consists of combination of photocatalytic oxidation effect and super hydrophilic effect. The first is caused by OH radicals which are able to oxidise almost all organic molecules. The second is due to the fact that irradiated surface coated with titanium dioxide exhibits higher affinity to water, which results in preferential adsorption of water instead a hydrophobic organic pollutants. For the preparation of the coating it is important to find a compromise between stability and photocatalytic activity. If theamount of photocatalyst is high, UV irradiation may cause the degradation of polymer matrix of the coating and it results in the chalking of the paint. On the other side we need the sufficient amount of the photocatalyst in paint to achi
