FACTORS HAVING EFFECT ON THE DOLOMITE DISSOLUTION IN DILUTE NITRIC ACID
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Opening kinetic study of the reaction between dolomite and nitric acid was accomplished. This heterogeneous non-catalyzed reaction may play a key role for example in the magnesium fertilizers technology based on a domestic raw material in the future. For achieving practical significance is necessary to know and be able to describe the kinetic behavior under the conditions, where the concentration of nitric acid is low and therefore the reaction rate is rapidly decreasing. All reaction experiments were carried out in an isothermal batch reactor vessel including an agitator shaft with a four-blade propeller stirrer. The effects of nitric acid concentration (from 10 to 100 mol m-3), reaction temperature (from 293 to 333 K) and an initial concentration of reaction products - calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate (from 0 to 1389 mol m-3) were studied. A pH-stat titration for observation of the reaction course and calculation of a degree of raw dolomite conversion was used. This method is based on maintaining of pH-value of the reaction solution using small additions of more concentrated nitric acid. For evaluation of chosen kinetic parameters the proper equations derived from a model describing a reaction for a nonporous spherical particle - the shrinking core model - were applied.
