Research Report 2017: Assesment of the ethanol impact to corrosion and oil properties
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Contractual research is focused on the qualitative properties of lubricating engine oils, on the change of engine oils properties and on the ability of engine oils to work well even if engine oils are contaminated by biofuels which are usually combusted inside car engines. Main scope of this research is corrosion-resistance testing of brass materials used for manufacturing of axial- and sleeve bearings that are components of turbochargers which usually have to work in conditions affected by biofuels. Testing of brass materials is carried out in used engine oils containing unburnt or partially oxidized biofuel which can be contained in real oil system, e.g. as a result of leak in car engine, and it can cause corrosion damages. Corrosivity of engine oils is also evaluated qualitatively. Finally, abrasion resistence of alloys, corrosion resistance of selected ball bearings and corrosion resistance of aluminium compressor wheels having various surface finishing have been also tested.
