Grain distillery stillage treatment using membrane techniques
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The distillery stillage is not utilized economically in the Czech Republic because of liquid character, high risk of microbiological contamination and difficult manipulation. In our work we try to find new process leading to effective distiller's stillage treatment. Two separation techniques for stillage treatment have been tested: 1) wedge wire screen with aperture of 0.25 mm (the static use with high slop and the use with vibrated horizontal frame) and 2) ceramic membrane treatment (microfiltration and ultrafiltration three-channel membranes with pore diameter range from 1.4 m to 15 kDa). Stillage, esp. permeate from last membrane steps was able to be recycled as technological water for the next fermentation after treating it with appropriate separation processes.Membrane separation techniques fulfil the requirements for the best available techniques (BAT) recommended by the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) EU Directives. The savings can be expected in water consump
