Mixed culture of aerobic thermophilic bacteria was used for waste water treatment. In the first stage we tried to analyse growth of aerobic thermophilic bacteria as a mixed population in batch, fed-batch and continuous processes. To avoid effect of manyunidentified substances present commonly in liquid wastes we decided to use a model aqueous solution containing glycerol as a carbon source. In the first run batch fermentations were carried out to characterize the thermophilic culture. In the second runcontinuous fermentations were performed with the aim to find optimal concentration of cells, substrate and metabolites. Filtration station with the micro filtration ceramic multi-channel membrane with pore diameter range 0.2 ?m was connected to the fermentor. The purpose of membrane separation was to recycle the cells and to keep their concentration at a certain level. Under normal conditions of the chemostat cultivation concentration of the cells is very low and therefore wash-out stag
