Limiting activity coefficients in binary mixtures of 1-alkanols and toluene
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The alcohol + hydrocarbon systems are known to exhibit high non-idealities, reflecting the alcohol self-association and presenting a challenge for their correlation, interpretation and prediction. In this work, limiting activity coefficients in binary mixtures of six lower 1?alkanols and toluene were determined using the techniques of inert gas stripping or comparative ebulliometry. Measurements were carried out at four temperatures and were done with a high precision. The new data were compared with available literature information on both the activity coefficient and calorimetric partial molar excess enthalpy at infinite dilution. All the critically evaluated information was merged and processed simultaneously to produce the recommended temperature dependences of limiting activity coefficients. The performance of leading prediction methods (UNIFAC, mod. UNIFAC, ASOG, MOSCED) was examined on this data. The behavior of the systems studied was interpreted using a non-athermal associatio
