Processing Properties of Asian and African Natural Rubbers II - Rubber Mixtures and Vulcanisates
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The approval of natural rubber for manufacturing is usually based on a few simple laboratory tests. However, the results of these tests do not always give a reliable prediction of rubber compound behaviour during industrial processing. Our aim is to improve the reliability of such predictions. African and Asian natural rubbers and their compounds were tested by 'traditional' (Mooney viscometer, Wallace plastometer) and 'new' (Rubber Process Analyser) instruments. The laboratory extrusion test was used to represent industrial processing machinery. The test results for rubber compounds were compared with the test data for rubbers and with some properties of vulcanisates. Several convincing correlations were found, with rubbers from smaller geographic area usually giving better correlations. The results for Asian rubbers and their compounds showed smaller variations. The Rubber Process Analyser proved to be effective evaluation tool.
